How to Schedule a Mexican Passport Appointment
Nearly every passport office in Mexico now works by appointment only, so knowing how the booking system works saves you real time. There are two ways to schedule: online and by phone.
Booking online
The online appointment system lets you choose your office, date and time. The general flow is:
- Create or sign in to your account on the appointment portal.
- Select the passport office most convenient for you.
- Choose the service type — first-time application, renewal, or replacement.
- Pick an available date and time slot.
- Confirm and save your appointment confirmation, which you will show at the door.
Availability varies widely. Offices in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey can book out weeks in advance, while smaller offices often have same-week slots. If your travel date is fixed, book as early as possible and check back regularly — cancellations free up slots throughout the day.
Booking by phone
If you prefer to speak with someone, or the portal shows no availability, appointments can also be scheduled over the phone. Have your CURP and personal details ready, since the agent will register the appointment under your name exactly as it appears on your ID.
Preparing for the day
- Bring your appointment confirmation, your documents and your payment receipt.
- Arrive fifteen to thirty minutes early. Security screening at the entrance takes time.
- Your photograph is taken at the office, so there is no need to bring printed photos — but dress as you would for any official photograph.
Rescheduling or cancelling
If your plans change, reschedule through the same channel you used to book rather than simply not showing up. Missed appointments can make it harder to book again quickly, and cancelling frees the slot for someone else.
Appointments abroad
Mexican consulates use their own appointment systems for passport services. The principle is identical — book ahead, bring documents and proof of payment — but each consulate publishes its own instructions, so read yours carefully.
Appointment systems change from time to time. Always use the officially published booking channels.
